Am I a hip 35 year old or what????

So several months ago my husband wanted to go to NJ to see Bon Jovi (We live right outside Washington DC) for those of you that don't know NJ is home to Bon Jovi, they are just good ole' Jersey boys that have done good. So my husband thought it would be a great experience to see them in their home state... that plan didn't work out. However he then found out that they were going to be in DC at the verizon center! So of course be bought the tickets.

It is important to note that I was not totally enthralled about going regardless if it was in Jersey or DC. I never thought of myself as a big Bon Jovi fan. Yet since it was something I knew he wanted to so I agreed and decided to go.. what the heck at least it would be an interesting date night!

Last night was the concert and I must admit I had a freaking blast!!!! We had dinner with another couple who came to the concert with us along with a few beers! You have to get that singing voice ready you know! Once Bon Jovi took stage I was primed and ready to sing the few songs I knew (I ended up knowing more then I thought). I figured out that this is the best place to sing at the top of my lungs like a rock star because no one will realize if you are off key!

I can't imagine what a rush it must be for these guys night after night to perform to sold out venues where 10's of thousands of people are sing along with them!

So here was the set list! Just an amazing concert! one that I would see again in a heartbeat. However I am DRAGGING today! we didn't get home till 1am and 6 am came WAY too early this morning!

Have a great weekend!

Blog site counters and visitors

So I have a site counter if you will on my blog a pretty cool tool that allows me to see when, where and how I am getting traffic to my little blog. So for example if you type in the words dump cake in google my URL should come up. Itchy clothes what you are looking for? I will come up. My full name...guess what up pops my blog!!! Click on the URL listed in your google search and bam you are at my simple little blog page. So that being said I fully expect the occasionally person who drops by and then suddenly realizes that this is not at all where they want to be, hopefully for the 5 seconds it to them to figure that our they had fun viewing my humble page.

However I have found there is a whole different type of person or persons that come to your page everyday to read what you have to say but never leave a comment. Were it not for the site counter gizmo I would never know if they had been here or not.

So my plea is this please leave a comment good bad or indifferent if you stop by and take the time to read the blog especially if you do it on a regular basis. Show bloggers out there some love! I think to some extent we are all driven to write more on our blogs if we feel people are really reading them and not just passing by.

Giveaway!!!!! Spice up your blog

In my short blogging life (5 months) I have been very lucky! Yes LUCKY! I stumbled onto a give away by Jan Parrish for the book Teaching Your Child About Sex by Grace Ketterman, MD. The book and the concept of giving away things on our blog struck me. So I entered the drawing thinking that would be the end, but I continued to ponder the idea of giving things away on your blog. Hmm interesting I thought! Then out of the blue….. I won the book from Jan and I have been hooked on blogging and blog giveaways ever since.

My next blog give away venture and the inspiration for my current give away was at Pennies in my Pocket! She was giving away a blog makeover worth $60. As you can see from my blog I won! Pretty cool design huh?

Finally Steph at MaNiC MoMMy had a wonderful give away that not only included a prize but also the joy of knowing you made a difference. I donated a pint of blood and won a $10 gift card to Target! So based on my math that is about a $100 worth of stuff! Not to shabby if you ask me!

Middle Name Meme

Thought I would have a little fun today and Smitty76 helped me to do that by tagging me for this meme!

Here are the rules:

You must post the rules before you give your answers. You must list one fact about yourself for each letter of your middle name. Each fact must begin with that letter. If you don't have a middle name, just use your maiden name. After you've been tagged, you need to up-date your blog with your middle name and answers. At the end of your post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and need to read your blog for details).

My middle name is Bieniek (it's a family name don't laugh

B- Balances many things at once, no one told me that was a prerequisite for being a mom!

I- Ice cream, if eating it could be a sport I would be an Olympian!

E- Everyone's buddy, at least I like to think I am?

N- Not fond of backstabbing, especially by family. (This is a huge pet peeve of mine)

I- Imagines a world of peace and harmony (hey one can dream)

E- Enthusiastic about life and what it holds from my children.

K- Karma, I believe in it!

So, now it's my turn to share this fun. I'm tagging the following peeps, because I would like to know a bit more about them because I think they're pretty cool!

28 febuary is comin!

For de 1st time in my life, horoscope in 8days is entirely true! XD but still i dun really believe it~

Pisces

Emotional, sensitive and vulnerable. Pisceans lack a hard shell and thier defence against the world is to wear disguises. These people are skilled in adapting to different situations, concealing their true feelings. They can be excellent artists, but they are also self-sacrificing, wanting ro find a role with greater meaning. They are attracted to charitable work and are easily exploited.

OMG OMG. it is so true LOL... but not the part where i'm attracted to charitable work. or am i..? O_o~

Just because you are louder... doesn't mean you are right!!!

I am a member of the Board of Directors of one of the local financial institutions here in my community. This weekend was our annual planning conference where we as a board along with the Sr. Management staff map out the year as well as tweak our 3 year long term goals.

We are a diverse group and I will tell you now I am the youngest on this board. Our meetings and discussions are usual spirited, that's to say they aren't ill willed but we have no problem making out points and debating issues. This weekend was a little different, for the most part I am in agreement with the majority when issues are presented to me. However in one of our sessions I was not in agreement and while my vote of "nay" would not have changed the outcome of said vote another person on the board felt compelled to push me as to why I voted the way I did, I explained my position and we debated but within a blink of an eye this person interrupted me mid sentence and was very loud about it. . I stayed clam, finished my point only to again have this person in yet a louder voice argue that I was wrong.

Now I was always taught to respect my elders weather you are 2 years or 20 years older then me I abide by that rule, it's called respect. However I had finally had enough and simply said "just because you are louder and more animated doesn't not make you right and further you already have the votes you need for this item, I simply want to go on record as to my thoughts." You could have heard pin drop. We eventually wrapped up the meeting that evening and headed to dinner. However I couldn't help feeling that this person was upset that I had the audacity to speak up and worse stand up to them. It was an eye opening experience for me and one I will be sure to pass on to my kids, stand up for what you believe in but do it with respect and dignity

Super Nanny where are you????

Terrible 2's have nothing on the terrible 3's....Ok for the last couple weeks we have had issues in our house when it comes to bed time and I think they are starting to spill over into little man's over all behavior. it is so bad that I am ready to call in Supper Nanny because I feel like I'm at wits end.

My son is a night owl, unfortunately I am not nor does our schedule allow for him to be. We typically get up the kids up at 6:30am in order to leave the house by 7:15am to get him daycare and my daughter to school. We are home by 5:30pm and we do the normal eat dinner, play, have a bath and bed. I shoot for bedtime by 8pm for the kids but it never seems to be before 9. Even then it is an hour or more of "I am hungry"... "I need a glass of water" and what I like to call the power of poop! My son is potty trained with the exception of nighttime so he wears a pull up and knows that if he says he has to go poop we will take him and that means getting out of bed, hence power of poop! So by the time he finally settles down it is nearly 10pm and I know for a fact that he has been up past that but stays in his room quietly. Well now he is starting to have discipline problems at school and I am convinced it is lack of sleep. I know how I am when I have not had enough sleep. To add to this and I know this may sound selfish but I would like to have at least an hour to myself or with my husband which with a bedtime of 8pm would give me till about 9 or 9:30 ... have I mentioned before that I get up at 5am to work out??? by 9pm I am totally dragging.

So to my mom bloggy friends do you have any suggestions on how to get him to bed and keep him in bed??? If I don't hear back from you I will have no choice but to write ABC and the Super Nanny show!!!!!

Life is a very precious gift

I just can't seem to find anything to write about. A mental block of sorts....
I know why though..... Yesterday I emailed a buddy of mine just to say hi and the response was not what I was expecting. Last Tuesday we had a terrible rush hour commute home due to a fast moving ice storm, that shut down roads and snarled traffic for hours. It took me nearly 4 hours to get home and my husband 5. All I kept hearing was accident this and accident that. Little did I know that my friends sister in law was in one of the those accidents and it ended up being fatal. Ashley McIntosh 33, lost her life when she was T-Boned by a police car traveling nearly 70 miles an hour responding to a shoplifting call. While I didn't know Ashley personally, I knew her brother-in-law and he is a very special man who is in a lot of pain right now as is his extended family. My you rest with the angles Ashley!

All my love and prayers to the McIntosh family

Commercial muna

i'm back in manila taking a ten-day break from my couchwife life (as if it was so stressful!). actually, it's a more like an errand break -- i have a marriage license and college diploma to pick up, both of which i need to make the shift from tourist to resident in singapore.

apart from those two must-do's, the other major must on my list is spending time with my mom. we got off to a roaring start when i arrived sunday -- trying on her latest ukay finds (unused zara and h&m goddess dresses!), looking at wedding photos together, getting a "status report" on the home front, and talking about plans for the future.

speaking of future plans, this showbiz-starved kapuso loyalist also plans to drag her with me to see richard gutierrez and marian rivera's my best friend's girlfriend (bfgf) tomorrow.

the rest of my to-do list for this trip is wonderfully mindless.
  • buy funky paper and envelopes for my portfolio
  • buy new levi's
  • buy a blowdryer, doormat, bath mats, everyday cutlery and a bathroom organizer at landmark
  • buy bloom lipgloss and prestige liquid liner at beauty bar
  • buy true match foundation
  • buy mascara from the face shop
  • buy photo paper (teka, puro buy na yata ito)
  • stop by lime to check out dresses (ayan, kunyari hindi daw buy)
  • visit gene and tatat at lfia
  • visit gma friends
  • visit acs at rehearsals
  • close citibank account
  • pay off bpi mastercard
  • give out thank-you cards
  • pick up last paycheck from gma
  • print wedding pics in bulk for mom
  • have miniature paintings from udaipur framed
  • re-do clearance at ateneo
  • discuss house plans with mom
  • buy birthday gift for marlon (and figure out how to smuggle it past him)
oh, and i'm seeing endo on friday with jeline! that i thought of watching bfgf before this critically acclaimed indie movie speaks volumes about my innate and deep-seated kabakyaan.

(i remember attending the creatives' briefing for gma's marimar launch last year and shocking everyone with my intimate knowledge of the original series on rpn-9. i giddily referenced minor characters and subplots that left even the program manager just blinking at me. "bakit mo alam 'yan? akala namin sosyal ka!" one of the corp comm girls said accusingly. for the record, it was my sister who faithfully recorded each after-school episode of marimar on our vhs. juskolord vhs!!!)

anyway. should i still attempt to swing by swap meet on kamuning? hmmm.

Skiing anyone???

The ski weekend was a huge success! My husband and I have not been skiing in 8 years. On that trip 8 years ago I tore my ACL and ended up have surgery to repair it with months of intensive physical therapy, so needless to say I was a bit apprehensive about getting back on skis, although I never let anyone know because I have this tough girl thing about me.

Friday we arrived a little after 3 hours in the car, clearly my kids were exhausted from the week because they both nearly slept the entire 3 hour trip!! After their big nap they were ready for action at 5pm unfortunately us adults were beat after a long work week and the 3 hour drive. So we made a little dinner had a few drinks and relaxed while the kids ran around. Finally we were able to get everyone to bed.

Bright and early Saturday morning my kids were ready to go to ski school. I must say if your kids that have not skied I think ski school or private lessons is the way to go for many reasons but the biggest 2 are 1) that they do much better without you and 2) by being in ski school all day it gives you some time to go on the slopes or just hang out and relax.

Ski school was wonderful! The kids are broken down by age and by level then they go out with an instructor for 1 1/2 hours in the morning come back in for lunch then back out again in the afternoon for another 1 1/2 session, by the end of the day they are beat. As you can see my little ones loved it and I think they look like little snow bunnies if I do say so myself.

Now I was ready to concur my fear! We were off to the ski rental place I was smart and got the Hi pro skis which tend to be a bit better then the regular rentals that get pretty beat up. My husband and I headed up the first lift I was terrified I would fall flat on my face getting off the chair but no... I was successful. I went down the first green I could find and soon I was digging the wind through my hair. I was back! I skied 9-4 both Saturday and Sunday, I took 1 or 2 good falls and I have the bruises to prove it but it was all worth it. Better still is that I fit into my ski pants from 8 years ago, you know 2 kids ago!!! :) I plan to send a note to my orthopedic surgeon because for years he was on me to go skiing again, I think he knew I was scared. So that was my weekend!

I have been informed that my new blog layout will be up and running tomorrow! Be sure to cone back and check it out!
