ohhhhhh~

this marks the first day of August :)
.

Not forgetting this

 for the MOT nurses!!!!

The White-Angels Day:)

Although I am a student nurse for 3 years plus but I never really go and pay attention to Nurses' Day. So this year's is my first time officially noticing it. (: and receiving a very omg nurses' day present.
Yes! A handphone from Colorectal Dept for all the General Surgey Girls & Boys!!
Really very thoughtful of them.
.
From today onwards I must remember when is Nurses' Day. Cos that day I asked others. and they said, "HUH! you dont know when is Nurses' Day!?"
hahahahahahaha.

Family day

I'm not sure why it's called Family Day as there was no family involved. Maybe it means that all the form 4 are like family or something.

We were supposed to come at 11 but it was boring for an hour or so. Waiting for people to come. Did charades.

Went off to McD in the middle of it. Jin Fye made some kick-ass cornflake cookies. Yum. A lot of people lugging DSLRs. I want one too. But technology is always unreliable. Stupid laptop's mouse AND keyboard not working properly.

Walked to McD and it was dang hot. Sweating. Was wearing black and black absorbs heat you know! Usually like white cotton tees but we were gonna get wet later so no. We were black white black white though. See!

Camwhored at the toilet. Hahhahaha. Bought 1 refillable Sprite and 4 person shared one. Damn cheapskate, right? Save money!

Went with Zhi Qi, Jin Fye and Mei Yen.

When we went back we were just in time for the splashing game. The team which loses scissors-paper-stone will get balloons fired at them. Muahahaha. Won 2 out of 3, I think. Backfired once when I throwed a balloon at Kok Leong and it didn't burst. He took my balloon and I tired snatching it back and then poop it goes.

After a few rounds all the balloons were dead and so we used flour. Yucky to get flour in the hair. The floor was also slippery and mixed with water and flour.

Then we had some snacks. I didn't get the freakin pizza. They ordered only 3. I think they earn quite some money , because RM15 for each person and more than 50 were going, so they have like 1k $$$! Good grief, I wonder what did they use it for.

Lastly there were performances. Didn't stay till the end.

And so now I am at home. Lucky those who are going MTV World Stage!

Star Wars

My Next Project:

I am going to make this sweater and it is going to be ballin!!!!

Finished my Socks!

They are a little too big. So much for trying them on while making them. I was so worried they would be too small I made them too big!

Doh!

Long Time No Post

It is sad that Paul the squid is going to retire. He has picked the winner of the world cup like 8 times. I might try that with my cats. Put the two final team flags on the floor and see which one they go for first. Although I will probably have to pick one cat to pick. But which one?!?!

Don't worry circle. I have a pointless life too.

So cute!

I wish I was able to do this. Maybe I can. I just need to get super fit and do yoga like all the time.

This is true love.

Haha. Amanda. Fear of chickens.

In Love!

I love love love love this movie. I have already watched it like 3 times. It is one of those movies that isn't too stressful for me to watch. I hate those super stressful or embarrassing moments in movies. I am too empathetic for my own good and can't stand to watch when something embarrassing happens. That is probably why I don't like comedies very much.

For example:

\
In Pride and Prejudice - I have to fast forward through the part of the ball when Kitty, Lydia and Mary all make fools of themselves and it is just too horrifying to watch.

Even during TV shows I will actually pause the show and get myself ready for what is about to happen. I have to brace myself.

The only other movie I can watch again and again without any stress is Constantine.

I love that movie.

saya sangat tak paham.dah dua helai jeans yang paling saya sayang koyak dan berlubang.haihs! demm.kan kena keluarkan duit lagi beli jeans baru...arghhh! :( adakah kerana saya sayang jeans ini dan saya sentiasa menyarungkan-nya dan berganti dua seluar ini sahaja dan dah bertahun jeans ini di dalam simpanan menjadi penyebab utama dia koyak? not good.not good.

owh atau mereka (refer kepada jeans) merajuk sebab saya baru je beli blue navy skinny? erk? rileks la.sehelai je kot. -.-"
tolong la.saya baru plan macam-macam dengan duit gaji yang baru masuk ni, korang dah nak koyak...so ini bermakna saya harus membeli lagi jeans kan?

Narcissist

Narcissist to me is being self-obsessed. Easy to be so when no one knows you better than yourself.

I am getting the habit of taking photos in the fitting room after trying on clothes. Mirrors attract me. I cannot walk by a reflective surface without looking at it.

Surprised to realise being narcissistic can be classified as mental problem. Which is: "Narcissistic Personality Disorder". I think everyone has an inner narcissist. The word is derived from a Greek myth person called Narcissus. He fell in love in his reflection by the pond and then drowned in it.

Oh yeah. One more phone stolen. Kwok Shien's. Good grief. 4th person in our class to "kena". Freaky to know a thief lurking beneath the shadows.

Siet Yen and Yen Teng's phone got confiscated. That's better than getting stolen, though Siet Yen was upset because she could only get it back by the end of the year. During lunch there was like a freakin' meeting in the toilet. Joo Yee told Pn. Aini they brought phones or something. Everybody brings phone, what's the big deal. And Pn. Aini, she's discipline teacher and whatnot, but she herself comes late to school. Kinda hypocritical, no?

The bracelet for not swearing thing is in effect. Failed for today. Said it twice. Hard to swear when everyone around you is.

Sim Kuan changed her blog to private mood. She better let me in. Poo poo. I'm making her. Well she reads mine all the time, I want to read hers too.

School was OK today. Mei Yen kept on sniffing out snot though and she sits beside me. When your friends are sick it's like they have to take a vacation from having fun anyway. Had sore throat and didn't attend school yesterday, but it's all gone after swallowing 5 Panadols Cold & Flu.

Theng Loo punched me in the arm and Vincent helped me punch him back because we share the same surname. The Tan. :D Guys are rough, and after a while you get used to it anyway.

Ping Kuang was in his hamsap mode and kept talking about indecent shits. Was busy copying Accounts homework for being absent. Some of the things he say makes people want to slap him. A while ago he had nosebleed and a drop of it went onto my Physics book. It was at the side and so stained more than half of the pages. :(

A lot of people asking for money. When people come for money I feel like swatting them off like flies. We're students. We don't have much money to spare, OK. Civic project. Bleurgh. Buy paint to paint the school. Pay money and do the work. How rewarding. Now that I think about it, I have to stay back for 6 hours tomorrow. I want to fly off early. Family Day on Saturday.

And one more pic before signing off. :D
The ruffles of this shirt are shrunk now, need to iron them out!

Books to commute by

Since I started working in Tanjong Pagar, the central business district of Singapore, my commute to and from home has become longer. Four more stops, or at least 15 more minutes, have been tacked on to my old MRT route. Sometimes I even end up taking the bus (which I don't normally do). And because my work hours are no longer always in sync with the hubby's, I end up commuting alone more than I used to

So I started reading books on the train. They sure beat the intellectual pambalot ng isda that is the local free paper. I've managed to finish five books purely while commuting. All of them are short; the longest is Ian McEwan's Black Dogs at 221 pages.

The thing with reading on the train is that I like whatever I'm reading to be light and uncomplicated. I always see people reading heavy instructional or self-help tomes on the train to work and I always wonder how they can absorb the material properly. That said, I tried to pick books that were brief and light without sacrificing quality. So if you're looking for some light reading, all these books are highly recommended!

The first book I read on my solo commutes was this one.

It was utterly perfect: one story for every day of the workweek. I would neatly end one story at the end of my commute home and begin a fresh one the next morning. And I loved that all the stories were about music.

This book on creativity and out-of-the-box thinking would have been really inspiring and useful given the kind of work I do, but it kept reminding me about the actual work I do! I didn't find it ideal to read before or after work; maybe I'll re-read it on a sunny Saturday morning by the pool.

In Black Dogs, I finally met an Ian McEwan book that I didn't like. I felt strangely uninterested in the characters, which made the climax of the book (close to its very end, which felt like eons to get to) much less satisfying. I had such a hard time finishing it. But I did and I still haven't lost faith in this author.

I've been a huge Vonnegut fan since I first saw a battered, yellowed copy of Galapagos in my mom's bookshelf almost 10 years ago. This used copy from Green Apple in San Francisco is my latest purchase in my efforts to own all his books. It's told from the first-person perspective of Vonnegut himself, in a fictitious attempt to use controlled near-death experiences to nab interviews with dead people. He never fails to crack me up, which can make one look a little silly on the train.

Reflecting the current state of mind (a.k.a. obsession) is Ian McEwan's Amsterdam, a city that does not make its appearance in the story until the last few pages yet holds the key to the resolution of its central conflict. I had wanted to actually read about Amsterdam from beginning to end so I could start imagining myself in it, but no matter. Highly recommended.

Do you read while commuting? Any books to recommend to a fellow commuter?
